Here’s a step-by-step guide to install your brand-new instant water heater, the right way:

Pre-Installation Preparation

Before you begin installing an A. O. Smith instant water heater, you need to gather the following tools and materials:

• Instant water heater: A. O. Smith FastOn, MiniBot, or EWS series
• Appropriate-sized connection pipes. These are available in standard lengths of 1.5, 2 & 3 Ft. With MiniBot you get a standard pipe set included with the product at no extra cost.
• Teflon tape
• Drilling Machine and appropriate drill bit
• Screwdriver
• Adjustable wrench
• Safety equipment (such as gloves and goggles)

Installation Process

Before you begin installing, turn off your home’s main water supply. This will prevent any leaks during the installation process.

Choose an appropriate location to install the water heater. Ensure that the location has easy access to water lines and electrical supplies. Additionally, ensure that the location has proper ventilation and is away from any flammable materials/areas

Step 1: Mounting the Water Heater: 

• Use the Mounting Template provided to mark holes.
• Use a driller to drill 2 holes at least 35mm deep in the wall, and make sure the two holes are aligned.
• Insert the expansion anchor into the hole and ensure that you maintain at least 20 mm between the concrete wall and mounting screw head.
• Fix the water heater steadily onto the mounting screw through the mounting slot.

Step 2: Connect the Water Supply:

• Start by connecting the multi-function safety valve to the inlet pipe and connecting the cold-water pipe to the inlet pipe as well.
• Following this, link the hot water pipe to the outlet pipe.
• Then, use Teflon tape around these pipes to prevent leaks.

Step 3: Fill the Water Tank:

• Begin this step by opening the outlet faucet for trapped air to escape.
• Fill the water heater tank completely before switching on the water heater.
• At this stage, ensure that the multi-function safety valve is connected.
• Lastly, connect to the power supply, and your instant water heater is ready for use!
